They represent an interesting and reliable addition.
They answer lots of questions which may have come up .

1. First of all :

Control your blood sugar level: before, during and after your activity to learn more about yourself.
Take note of everything in a booklet: blood sugar level, length of your activity, weather, meal.. And study these results.
Speak with your doctor or your specialist if a problem comes up.

EIf you register under 1.50, plan to add some sugar to reach 1.50 allowing you to begin your activity at a correct level (3 pieces of sugar = +0.50g)0g)

2. Meals:
Eat reasonably and with a balanced diet, especially following your activity.
Don't be afraid to control your weight.

Train progressively and regularly:
And energetically as well to accelerate your heart frequency from 50% to 60%.(consult the table
) good plans for the beginner.

3. Pressures aren't the same for both types of diabetes:

Slow or rapid reacting insulin? Sulpha drugs? Be careful when dealing with hypoglycaemias.
Speak with your specialists. They are there to help you.
Always carry a cookie or fruit paste with you + water. (3 sugars = +0.50 g).
Don't forget to drink, before, during and after your activity

4. If you are alone, carry:
( Important for first aid)
Photocopy of your identification.
Card indicating your diabetes.
For those who are addicted, a cell phone (N°112)


5. Before the competitionvant une compétition :

Aim for a blood sugar level of 1.50 g - 1.90 g/l
If possible, eat 3 hours before the race (digestion)
and if necessary, correct the level.

NOTE: If your rate is very high = over 2.50 gr, avoid all physical activity

During the competition, use the fuelling provided, just like others. (running: about 5 km).
